"Nahnu Djundulla Djundulwatan" (We Are the Army of God and of Our Land)
Words by: Sayed Ahmad Muhammad Salih
Music by: Ahmad Murjan
Adopted: 1956
The Sudanese anthem was adopted upon independence from Britian and Egypt in 1956. The area of South Sudan, which was staging a war of secession until 2005, was offered its own symbols including an anthem, as a precursor to possible independence, as outlined in the peace plan with Sudan, but as of yet there is no word as to what that anthem is.
