"Burundi bwacu" was written by a group of writers led by the Jean-Baptiste Ntahokaja, a Catholic priest, and composed by Marc Barengayabo. Adopted upon independence in 1962, the anthem has Kirundi and French lyrics, the two official languages of the country.
